A number of special devices and sensors are regularly used in the laboratory and in the field. Examples include anthropometric callipers, appropriately chosen force displacement and acceleration sensors, seat pads for measuring the acceleration occurring at the interfaces between people and seats, and sensors for measuring the movements of, and the forces transmitted through, control surfaces such as vehicular pedals.
